2016 sees the 34th Wargrave 10K event. It will be the usual course, starting and finishing on grass with the rest of the course on undulating country lanes and some residential streets within village. There are three water stations on the course. The race is Chip timed. The race is again selected as the 10k event for the Berkshire County Championships.
Once again we have a team category and encourage and welcome runners of all standards from beginners to experienced to enter. The event enjoys a real festival and family atmosphere and lends itself to bringing family and friends along to support. There is a play area on the recreation ground for children and there will be a tea & cake stall run by the local brownies.
Physiocare will be in attendance with their physiotherapy stand where runners can come and speak with a Physiotherapist to get some advice re training and any injuries, aches or pains, and as usual will be offering post run massage for only £5.00 – all proceeds to this year’s chosen charities. Apex Sports will also be in attendance with their Kit Mobile Shop. Nuffield Health will also be in attendance. The Brownies and Guides will, as always, be running a refreshment stall selling bacon butties, cakes, tea, coffee, etc.
Sorry, but no dogs or pushchairs are allowed in race and no dogs are allowed on the recreation ground itself, but there is a dog walking field adjacent to the car park.
Please note a new UKA rule banning the use of headphones: From 1 April 2016 a new rule regarding the wearing of head phones in road races was introduced into the 2016-2018 edition of the UKA Rules of Competition. “The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to traffic.”
The wearing of headphones is banned in accordance with this rule.
This rule is changed from the original race instructions published.
